XMAS shopping in June

Well, I tried, but it’s sooooo hard! I have great admiration for people who can buy things for people for holidays and birthdays and store them away until then. When I see something for someone that I think they would like, it’s nearly impossible for me to store it away until their birthday or xmas.

So on Friday, I spent the afternoon with my co-worker Nancy. She took me to lunch at her favorite restaurant, the Summer Kitchen, which was delicious as usual. Afterwards she wanted to show me a few cool things in Bucks County that I hadn’t seen yet. So we started off by going to the Mercer Museum.

Henry Mercer founded this museum (which is built entirely of concrete reinforced with iron rods) in 1916. The museum holds over 50,000 artifacts, some of which are over 2000 years old. Mr. Mercer believed that the story of human progress is told through the tools that they used. It’s a pretty cool place.
Afterwards, we went to the Moravian Tileworks, another museum founded by Mr. Mercer. LOTS of cool stuff in there, I bought way too much.

So I made purchases at both places, all of which were supposed to be either b-day or xmas presents. But as soon as I walked in the door at home, Sharon accosted me and forced me to show her what I got her. I’m such a sucker. Well, at least I have a few more presents for folks that I’ve stored away. Hopefully I’ll be able to restrain myself.

Man, you are a sucker… :-p

Those sound like very cool places, though!
