Thanks AGAIN Willy!!
My favorite performer, Willy Porter, put on yet another amazing show the other night. My sister Sharon and I saw him at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia on the 17th. Some highlights from the night:
1) We had dinner at the restaurant affiliated with the Tin Angel, called Serano. YUMMMMMM Super good stuff, definitely going back there when I have some extra dough.
2) With dinner reservations, you also get reserved seating. My sis and I were RIGHT in front of the stage. I got to be mesmerized by Willy’s amazing guitar talents up close and personal.
3) Willy always does an improvised song at some point during the show. He gets ideas from the crowd. Folks were yelling up stuff like “Detroit!”, “State Prison!”, “Dick Cheney!”, and all these other downer topics. So I yelled up “Puppies!” He liked that suggestion and did part of the song about my doggie Jake. LOL It was cool.
4) Ok, the coolest part of the night was the fact that he recorded the show and burned cd’s on the spot! So I have a signed copy of the show, “Jake the Dog” and all. And I got to act all stupid and goofy talking to him while waiting for the cd’s. He’s such a nice guy.
All in all, another awesome show. He used looping effects in some really unusual ways I hadn’t heard before. He never uses backing tracks, but he loops his guitar parts and plays over them sometimes. This time he did that PLUS he looped his vocals and harmonized with himself. Way cool. He also did this really cool thing in one improvisation where he looped himself acting as all his neighbors. At the end it sounded like this montage of overlapping conversation, it was really neat.
This was my 5th show, certainly not my last.
By the way, he mentioned that Kaki King is playing there on 6/2, he’s a fan of hers as well! Tim had mentioned her to me before, I already have tix to see her next week. =)

My first complete song
I have lots of incomplete stuff I play on my guitar all the time, but this is my first complete song. I spent about 4 hours total on it at the school lab using a MIDI keyboard and ProTools. This was my final project for an electronic music synth class. It gets a little repetitive cuz I needed to meet a time requirement.
I’m hoping to get the cheap version of ProTools at home sometime this summer, so hopefully you’ll hear some stuff from me that’s more than just MIDI soon. In the meantime, I may also get my final project uploaded sometime soon, which is a slide show (of all the goofiness that’s happened to me in the last year) accompanied by original music.
The link provided below will take you to AcidPlanet, a site my friend Doug recommended to me. If it doesn’t take you directly to the song, look up my profile, which is Zeroto60. (Don’t worry, the site is free and doesn’t require any info from you if you just want to listen.) Feel free to rate it and give me feedback.

AcidPlanet
Cool site Doug recommended to me for uploading my music. I don’t have anything posted yet, but I love browsing the site for good songs. What a great outlet for musicians! Check it out if you have a few minutes. By the way, my ID on there is zeroto60.
