the last hurrah
Six women in our IG went on a camping trip this weekend, while eight men (Rob included) went on a cabin retreat. For me (Erica) it was such an amazing time. We got rained on, made some incredible meals, kayaked around Lake Pomme de Terre, knitted, and mostly talked a lot. We learned a lot about one another, and while we didn’t do anything “spiritual”, I felt such a great sense of joy in community. So when I left my friend Jill’s house yesterday, I was not surprised to feel the sour mixing with the sweet.
Rob and I are leaving Kansas City in a few short weeks. Two years ago, this would have been the greatest thing to happen to us in a while. Seriously, I mean there would be flames coming off the wheels. And now we have the awesome opportunity to move to Launceston, Australia. How cool can it get?
Here’s where the sour comes in. We’ve spent the past three years at our church and the last two years in an Impact Group. We have met some really cool people and developed this sense of community and friendship that can never be replaced. When we go, we will leave the best Christian community we’ve ever had. So it’s difficult to be excited all the time, especially when you realize that the road ahead could very well be a lonely one.
Titans, we love you dearly. We are going to miss you all.

well… we’ll miss you too. thanks for letting rob go with us this weekend :) we were really, really, good boys. we didn’t do anything wrong (except get sunburned) – oh, and we met this wonderful neighbor man. he was very nice and offered to help us if we needed anything. uhm. what a weekend. seriously, you’ll be missed… but now we can read about your life via your new blog…jason () (URL) - June 14, 2004 at 12:32 pm
