Hot Tubs on the Beach
Hotwater beach is an cool place. In addition to being a beautiful beach with fine white sand and surrounding mountains, hotwater beach has an added feature. Hotwater beach has a natural spring under the beach that is revealed during low tide. In low tide you can take a spade and dig your own hot tub on the beach. The pool you dig fills with hot mineral spring water and then you have your own hot tub on the beach. An added bonus for us was low tide coincided with sunset. We got to enjoy our own hot tub of mineral spring water while watching the sun set over the water. Sweet as!

Off to the Cathedral
Tomorrow we are going to Hahei on retreat. See photo of beautiful Cathedral Cove above. We’ll spend time meditating, reading the bible, praying, and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. We’ll especially be praying for direction and guidance as we head back to the US.

Travelling
I hope you like the hobo kiwi picture Rob took in the Bay of Islands.
Big plans are being made. By us. We’re planning our trip back to the US, with many exciting stops along the way. We’re just not sure where they are yet.
Around the world ticket. Surprisingly not much more expensive than a one way back to the US ticket.
So many choices. Clearly we cannot see it all. But I’m getting so excited about the things we might get to see.
Here’s my question to anyone reading this: What is the coolest destination you have ever been to and why?

End of the World
Last week we drove to the northernmost point of New Zealand, Cape Reinga. According to Maori legend, when a person dies their spirit takes a journey to the north and jumps off to heaven from there. Read more about it here. There is a lighthouse at Cape Reinga with a point that looks like a great jumping spot to us:
Nearby is Spirits bay, named for the above legend. Spirits bay has the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen: it’s pink.
The sand is made of sea-washed shells that look like small jewels close-up.
Gorgeous.

Swimming With the Dolphins
Erica and I took a holiday in the beautiful Bay of Islands in the Northland of New Zealand last weekend. We took a cruise to see the beautiful green islands with secluded beaches. Part of our cruise inlcuded the possibility of sighting and swimming with dolphins. I have always longed for the opportunity to interact with these beautiful animals so I suited up and put on my snorkel for an experience swimming with the dolphins.

Sock Experiment
I made it myself. Not bad for a first try. I think I’ll go make another one, so my left foot can feel as warm as my right. As they would say here in NZ, it’s warm as.
