Blogger Idol - Week 12: Birds of a Feather Flock Together ("Opening Day")
![]()
This afternoon, a few coworkers and I went to Opening Day at Kaufman Stadium to watch the Kansas City Royals lose to the…no beat the Chicago White Sox… Well, let me just say that if you know anything about today’s game, you know why we shouldn’t have left early. Ugh.
One thing that most of those who like baseball (and those of us who have been to a baseball game) know — something that was definitely exemplified by the games that occurred all around the nation today — is that baseball fans are all “birds of a feather” who “flock together.”
As you can see from the photo above (click it to see a bigger version), the stadium was packed — even the “standing room only” seats were sold out. Here to the right is a close-up of the better-than-average “bird” (Missouri’s finest, for sure).
I was a bird watcher today. And flock they did.
Happy New Baseball Season everyone.

And the announcer on the radio said, “Mendy Lopez just taught Kansas City that they should never leave any ball game early.”
Priceless.
You made my Top 5.

bet you thought i wouldn’t reply to this post, huh?
first, tim, how in the world could you have left that (or any) game early? oh my. i’ll have to really work on my reaction to that. for the record, i have never left a baseball game early, unless i’m going to miss a flight (which has happened before) i’m joking, but i feel bad that you missed out.
second, today is the best day of the year for me. i’m one of those birds you mentioned. and next monday is an even bigger day for me – opening day at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
i hope you enjoyed your exposure to the wonderful world of baseball – what a day, huh?
enjoy! the boys of summer have begun!
love it…. Jason
