Trials of home-ownership...
Right now, I am thankful that we got a home warranty when we bought our house. Yesterday, we found out that our main sewage line may be clogged or broken. We also discovered that our air conditioning wasn’t working.
Is this not fun?
Along with the stresses of trying to get everything put away, we already knew about many things that were on the order of being fixed. These two new discoveries were not on that list. But, it looks like the warranty is going to cover most of it (minus a $50 deductable). This is good.
I went home to meet the air conditioning repair man. The fix was fairly easy and I paid a little extra money to have our unit cleaned and recharged with freon. Hopefully, it won’t trip the circuit breaker while we are here at work (which is one of those “fixables” that we were prepared for).
I’m sure there will be more surprises to come…

First, congratulations on your new home! I am so pleased for you…
Sounds like you are reliving my first week in my home…the first morning after we moved in, I took a bath and the basement filled with water because the main line was clogged and not draining. The first time I kicked on the AC, it didn’t work either…and it was new!
I remember being really nervous about buying my first home, and then doubly nervous when it seemed like everything broke right away…
But, when all was said and done, it was a great house.
Good luck in the new home!
Just dropping in to let you know the Grace Pages has temporarily at least moved to http://gracepages.blogspot.com

An hour later, we discovered the master bath shower (really just a 2’x2’ portion of a 4’x4’ bathroom, hardly what people now consider ‘master’)poured water through the ceiling fixture in the family room below it.
We were poor. I think our third child was born before we could fix the shower and by then we’d outgrown it!
It all makes for good stories later, guys! You know how all the financial advisors say to have an emergency fund set up? This is why!
