"Christmas Song"
I wrote and recorded a Christmas song a couple of years ago and I thought, in the spirit of Christmas, I’d share it with you all (it was originally posted it on my mp3.com page when mp3.com was still an online venue for independent musicians).
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little folk-punk Christmas ditty (click on the tree).
Christmas Song (2002)by Tim Samoff
A man stands devastated
Down on 23rd
He’d give his life for a pack of Reds
And a bottle of Thunderbird
Then up above he sees a sign
That reminds him of his youth
Half-blocked by all the Christmas lights
Something about Good News
How God so loved the world
That He gave His only Son
So one day he’d be hung
On that cross for everyone
And tonight a star shines bright above
To show us where He’s born
One of us, to wash us clean
With nails and a crown of thorns
But what about tonight
When he’s searching for a bed
And all those crazy voices
That swim inside his head
And even though it’s clear tonight
It feels like 6 degrees
Could anything bring peace of mind
And bring what Christmas means
And who is gonna be
The next person that he meets
You or maybe me
Or some dealer down the street
So I’m gonna take a stand
In the midst of all this hype
Not to wish a Merry Christmas
But the hope of Jesus Christ
