Stickin' it to the man (and Tom Cruise)...
Last night, Julianna and I decided to pull another sneaky double-feature at the movies. This was the second time we had done this as a couple. It was not a difficult task — the second movie was due to begin just shortly after getting out of our paid-for flick. But here’s where it gets a little weird…
The first time, we paid to see Cold Mountain (co-starring Nicole Kidman) and then snuck into The Last Samarai (co-starring Tom Cruise). We didn’t plan on seeing these two movies on the same night, starring recent divorcées, so it was humorous that we landed on this coincidence.
Last night, we paid to see a matinée showing of Batman Begins (co-starring Katie Holmes). We went with a bunch of friends from church. It was a good time and we all thoroughly enjoyed the movie (in fact, all of my expectations were pleasantly met).

So, here’s where the realization of the weirdness came to us. As we were sitting in the theater, waiting for the the movie to start, Julianna and I both realized that we were pulling our sneaky double-feature with Tom Cruise for the second time. And, not only that, but we were pulling it with films that co-starred Tom Cruise’s love interests. Sounds like we have some problems doesn’t it?
Still, I was extremely happy that we paid for Nicole’s and Katie’s movies rather than Tom’s — although I understand that supporting Katie Holmes may be pretty similar to supporting Tom, but I guess I’d rather be indirect.
Second coincidence of the night? Morgan Freeman was in both movies as well! (Although Freeman was just the narrator in War of the Worlds.)
Maybe the next one of these we pull off will yield similar results. Stay tuned…
Here’s to stickin’ it to the man. Two movies for $5 sounds a lot more reasonable to me.
