New Jacob's Well website!

Jacob's Well website, 2005Major congratulations go out to my friend, , for completing an amazing new website (both programming and design!) for our church, . It’s got a nice, clean design, it’s easy to use, and it’s got a bunch of cool, new interactive features that really showcase our community. Be sure to explore all of the pages, because they all contain something interesting to see or do — be sure to reload the pages to see all of the banner photos change as well (and hover your mouse over them to see who took the photographs).

Of course, one big change for the site is that it has all sorts of information about who we are and how we do things. This has long-been one of the most asked-for features. Still, it doesn’t mean that you can’t come and check us all out now… Please come by if you’re in the area some Sunday.

I like the design, but I have one suggestion: The banner picture on the front page is fairly large. I am running at 1024×768, and the menu is at the bottom of the screen. The menu for me appears at the bottom of the screen with no hint of content below the menu (other than the scroll bar). When I resize the window (using Chris Pedrick’s excellent Web Developer Tool: http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/we..) to 800×600, the menu completely disappears. Perhaps drop the banner image back to 300 pixels high. Otherwise, it looks great!
