Informatio: ,

Why's everbody always picking on me?

I never mentioned this here before, but just before was born, my wife and I forked out $2000 for a second car.

If you’ll remember, I was riding the bus for quite some time. When I got a new job, I couldn’t ride the bus anymore (I think I could have worked out a route to get down here, but it probably would have taken a couple of hours and more than five bus transfers), but we were able to make it work with one car for quite some time. The coming birth of our child finally forced us to make the decision to buy another car.

The shards of violationThis morning, my car was stolen. More importantly — and most likely the reason why the car was broken into in the first place — my iPod was stolen with it (I stupidly left it sitting in the cup holder on my center console). The only other items of “value” were a really cool — and expensive — baby seat, and a bag of cement mortar in the trunk.

This is actually the second car that I’ve had stolen — the first was a Toyota pickup. (Why me?!)

Please pray that the police are able to find my car in good shape. We really can’t afford another car right now. My wife will be able to take the bus to work and I’ll be able to drive our other car, but it will be difficult to work around the fact that we have a baby and we need to have easy, convenient transportation.

I’m probably mourning the loss of my iPod the most. I have grown to love it — and there were a few files on it that are now lost forever.

That absolutely sucks, Tim. I hope very much that your car (and your iPod) are both recovered soon and in working condition. Theft is such a terrible, invasive, thing. And you’ve had to put up with more than your share of it. I wish you the best. Please keep me/us posted.

Yeah, ‘cause it’s that easy to go and buy a new house, eh? Maybe you should just come and shoot someone. ;-)

I share your pain bro. Holly and I had our Subaru Legacy Wagon stolen from the front of our house when we lived in Kansas City. It was returned 3 days later, but it had been trashed. Things will turn out alright. We’ll be praying for you three.

Thanks Peder. Yeah, hopefully, I’ll get mine back in better condition than you did… The last car I had stolen was eventually found in Tijuana. It had four different tires and a few knicks and scrapes but, at least, it still drove.

Oh man, that sucks Tim. Yeah you know, if my Jeep was stolen with my iPod in it, I’d be more bummed about losing the iPod. Seriously though, that stinks, sorry to hear about it.

So sorry, Tim. Too maddening. Praying… I wonder what blessing God will turn this one into? =o)

Jean ~ Thanks. Yeah, I am very sad about the iPod.

Kate ~ Thank you. Time will tell, I guess!

Sorry, to hear about your car being stolen. I know it can be difficult for two people to communte in opposite directions. As for that neighborhood I researched the area and I found it is not the safest part of town…maybe you and your family should consider moving to the burbs…I will continue to pray for that street everyday.

cookieacake - July 24, 2006 at 11:48 am

Well, the neighborhood… Not much worse than the surrounding areas. And, it’s sort of one of the reasons why we moved here. Anyway, you’ll find me in the burbs when… Well, I really don’t want to move there.
