A question...
Is this a product of the war, Mel Gibson, or am I just in high school again?
This is something that I never thought I’d see in a restroom at my workplace…
And I’m a little freaked out because of it.
Ugh.

err, a product of ignorance, which cannot ever be completely erased.

For some, I don’t think it can be explained away by ignorance, though perhaps stupidity would work. It’s true enough that a good deal of knowing who we are is knowing who we are not. To the knuckle-dragging crowd, that means hating entire races and nations. And then there’s the possibility that someone drew it entirely for shock value, without much thought to its larger significance.

Yeah, but, Wheat… At a 20,000+ employee, Fortune 500 company?!

Two thoughts: 1) Could it have been the delivery guy? Or someone else who doesn’t work there but has access to the bathrooms? Somebody’s kid in for a visit?
2) Remember that the head-honcho Nazis included quite a few well-educated, otherwise “enlightened” folks. One can be reasonable about a wide range of topics and still be a knuckle-dragger when it comes to race. I don’t know how it’s possible, exactly, but it seems to be true (sad, but true).

Oh, yeah… All of that can be true, of course. It’s just a little disheartening to see it still happening in this day and age (and, I know that I am more idealistic than some — the pragmatic side of me knows that this will never change).

Or, perhaps, the person who left the sign was an artist who is doing this to Fortune 500 company bathrooms and seeing who blogs about it (i.e., Tim Samoff).
