T-minus 2 hours and 30 minutes...
The turkey’s in the oven, the baby’s taking a nap, the wife’s taking a shower… And, I thought, why not sit down and write my annual Thanksgiving Day Blog post?
Truth be told, though, I’m not much in the mood. It’s not that I’m not thankful — there are countless things I could list that I’m thankful for. But, I have a cold (have had, on and off, for about two months now), as well as a huge knot that runs from my shoulder, down my neck, and to the middle of my back (I’ve probably had it for close to two months now as well).
But, that’s not really the reason either. I think the main reason I don’t feel like writing is the very thing you’re looking at right now (if you are looking): this Weblog.
I know I’ve been a little lax in writing here lately — a good blogger is a prolific one, right? I just haven’t felt like this venue has been much of a good place for “fair and balanced” conversation lately. In fact, there are all of three or four people who still comment here regularly — there used to be hundreds.
In any case, I don’t necessarily write here for the notoriety. I do write here for the conversation and friendship, though. Lately, it seems like my photography has been providing more of that than anything. And, being that I keep the Baby Blog going, it makes me feel like I’m still blogging.
Honestly, I’ve been dreaming of bigger things lately. Namely, a book. I have some loose ideas, as well as how I’d like to write it (think Wiki)... But, I need to actually start it. And, something tells me that the obsession that is this Blog will always, in some way, keep me from doing that.
So, today, Thanksgiving 2006, I am semi-officially putting this Blog on a semi-hiatus.
What does that mean? Probably nothing to the three or four of you. I will still post here once in a while. I will still provide links to things I find interesting. But, I’m not going to count this place as my primary creative outlet for a while. (That location is yet to be told.)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am so thankful for you.
(By the way, if you would like to contribute to the ultimate Christmas gift of all time, I’d happily take your donations. And, this would be my second choice.)

Yeah, when friends of mine (http://www.sense-datum.org/robanderica/ ) were on a long-term stay in Australia, some good Aussie friends of theirs threw them an “American Thanksgiving” party. They loved it!
Hopefully I’ll see you in the near future…until then here’s to keeping slightly in touch electronically.

I’ll certainly miss seeing regular posts from you but seeing as I read your blog via Bloglines, I’ll still know whenever you’ve posted.
All the best with whatever way your creativity unfolds.
