Informatio:

Say what?!

I heard a report on this morning about an upcoming space shuttle flight.

It spoke of how they are trying for a December 7th launch so that the shuttle will be back on earth before January 1, 2007.

Why?

A computer glitch:

The computers aboard Space Shuttle Discovery, which is set to launch in December, will not know what time it is back on Earth come Jan. 1, 2007. This scenario has prompted NASA officials to devise a series of work-around plans that involve either advancing the launch date, launching in 2007 or reinitializing the computer software in flight on Jan. 1.

Should this not baffle me? I mean… Does it seem like they should have updated the “30-year old software” contained in the space shuttle by now?
