The rug...
A few days ago, I ranted about my current disdain for FedEx. I apologize for the delayed update, but we’ve recently been dealing with a sick kid.
So, last Friday, I got home from work, still to find our house empty of our new area rug. When I checked the FedEx tracking (again), it still said that our package was “On FedEx vehicle for delivery.” But, the thing is, that’s what it never stopped saying on Thursday — what I mean is, usually there’s an end-of-day report on the tracking system that states what happened to the packages when the FedEx depot closed for the night. Thursday’s report was never updated and Friday’s said the same thing.
I called FedEx (again), but this time was pleased to find a very nice, polite representative. (Thank you, Lord!) She was very discouraged to read my tracking report and honestly couldn’t figure out what was happening with my package. She was prompt to connect me with the local depot, who then called our driver, who was able to give us all a current report of where he was.
Here’s the ironic thing… We were just on our way our to have dinner with some friends. Ugh.
In fact, he was only thirty-minutes out from our house!
The issue here was that I was pretty certain that I had ordered the package to not require a receiver’s signature. But, the depot representative was pretty sure that I’d have to sign for it. (That’s all we’d need: to come home to a FedEx tag on our door!)
Confident that I was correct — and in a hurry to get out the door, I thanked the people I was talking to and said goodbye.
After an eventful night at our friends’, we came home to find our package safely resting on our front porch (after it’s ten-day long journey).
And, I’m happy to see that the photo to the right pretty much says what our family thinks of the new rug.
